Sports in Mauritius

If you are looking at going to Mauritius for a kite surfing holiday, the south east is where you want to aim. The amazing shoreline and the perfect winds make this one of the best kite surfing spots in the world. The best time to visit the island for a kite surfing holiday is between May and October, the winter, because of the windy conditions and the combination of heavy waves, and flat lagoon waters.

There’s also Manawa reef for surfers to explore, it’s only 800m off shore, but the swells can range between 1 – 8m in the right conditions, making it an essential wave for experienced surfers. Ask the locals about the best waves when you arrive, but know this, if you’re looking for a kite surfing destination, few places are as well suited as Mauritius.

Mauritius is located in the continent of Africa and covers 2,030 square kilometers of land and 10 square kilometers of water, making it the 183rd largest nation in the world with a total area of 2,040 square kilometers.  Mauritius became an independent state in 1968, after gaining its sovereignty from France.
