South Africa
Expect the unexpected when you plan a visit to South Africa – words are just not enough to describe the beauty, scenery, variety and sophistication you are going to experience in the southernmost part of the continent. No wonder so many celebrities from all over the globe have chosen South Africa as an escape from the rest of the world!
Whatever your interests, whatever your tastes, whatever your likes or dislikes, you will fall in love with the country the moment you set foot on its soil. Your biggest problem is going to be to decide which part of the country to explore: the breathtakingly beautiful Cape province with its majestic mountains, valleys, wine estates and beaches or the Bushveld where the safaris await.
Nothing you have heard or read about South Africa can possibly prepare you for the reality. Your journey will start in Johannesburg, the City of Gold. A prosperous, sophisticated city with world-class shopping malls, hotels, casinos and entertainment. But make your stay in Egoli, as it is also called, just long enough to rest before you start exploring the real treasures you are going to discover.
Plan your trip according to your interests. The Cape Province is world famous for its picture perfect, astonishing scenery, winelands and beaches. On your itinerary include the Mother City, Cape Town itself, and from there explore the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay where strips of beachfront bars and restaurant will invite you for a cocktail to enjoy some of the best sunsets in the world.
Do not miss Franschhoek, a gem of a town in the winelands surrounded by the most beautiful mountains. You will be spoilt for choice by the world-class restaurants and wine cellars Franschhoek has to offer so be prepared for a culinary experience like no other!
Kwa-Zulu Natal has a magic of its own; the sub-tropical climate makes it an extremely popular holiday destination for the locals. If you have enough time do include the unspoilt Wild Coast which is extremely popular for its breathtaking beaches and natural beauty. There are numerous hiking paths along the coast for the more adventurous.
If you crave city life visit Ushaka Marine World in Durban but stay in nearby Umhlanga, a modern seaside town with upmarket hotels and shopping malls.
The Bushveld calls most foreigners because of the numerous game reserves, safaris and wildlife. Of course this is one of the country’s trademarks and not to be missed experiences.
You can either visit the well-known but more commercial Kruger National Park or one of hundreds of private game reserves, all featuring the famous Big Five. These are of course elephants, rhinoceros, lion, buffalo and leopard. No trip to South Africa is complete without a night spent under the African sky, around a fire with the far-off sound of lions roaring in the night.
There are just too much to cover in a few words. Each province in this magnificent country has a beauty and charm of its own, so stretch your visit for as long as you can and just know that once you inhaled the scent of Africa you will be a different person!
