Miss Amity USA Pageant
Reality TV star and former Miss USA Kenya Moore to host Miss Amity USA in Houston this Summer
HOUSTON (Mar. 13th, 2018) — Texas is well known for its ambitious love affair with the world of pageants, having produced some of world’s most recognized faces who have found their own success beyond the spotlight. This summer, the city of Houston will soon twirl to the tune of a new generation of hopeful contestants as they compete for the crown and a $10,000 prize at the first-ever Miss Amity USA beauty pageant on Saturday, July 21st, 2018 at the Ayva Center in west Houston. Real Housewives of Atlanta superstar and former Miss USA title-holder, Kenya Moore, will serve as the host of the inaugural presentation.
The newly-formed competition, founded by local Houstonian and former Miss World contestant Kovie Tina Ogbodo, aims to empower and provide opportunities for young, diverse and goal-driven women who have the desire and passion for public service and charity, while progressively moving forward in their own personal and professional life during their year of service. Unlike most beauty pageant competitions, Miss Amity USA gives flexibility for women from all walks of life to participate. The only requirements are that you must be a natural born female, and you must be between the ages of 14 and 30 years old at the time of competition. The pageant is now accepting applications for contestants.
The contest will include a variety of categories in which each contestant will be judged to determine the winner who will receive a $10,000 cash or scholarship prize, a crown, an official car for her reign, a custom-made couture gown, the opportunity to model at the Laredo Fashion Week couture fashion show, and more (as listed on the pageant’s official website). The evening of the competition will also feature a co-hort of celebrity guest judges, live performances, a pre-show red carpet, a full-course dinner, and special appearances from notable figures. The official 2018 sponsors of the Miss Amity USA Pageant are Avanti Modeling School & Agency, Danny Nguyen Couture, and Kawaii Boutique.
Tickets for this year’s pageant will be sold online beginning in April, and proceeds from the event will help benefit the Miss Amity USA Foundation, the official 501(C)3 non-profit organization of the pageant that designates projects year-round to advocate for the empowerment and education of young women worldwide, and to raise funds for scholarships awarded to contestants at the Miss Amity USA Pageant each year.
