FashPhiletta Designs Runway Debut at 2017 Diaspora Showcase Africa
At the award-winning Diaspora Showcase Africa in Tucson Arizona, high fashion models commanded the runway in vibrant designs and colorful African fabrics by Fash Philetta Designs. Liberian designer Philetta Phillips brought a taste of Africa to Tucson, Arizona with her collection of African inspired cocktail, evening / formal attire and business suits. Known for specializing in blends of stylish African wear with European silhouettes, the designer label caters to mature adults and young professionals looking for simple yet affordable clothing that guarantees elegance.

The collection that Houston based FashPhiletta Designs displayed at the Diaspora Showcase Africa included African inspired cocktail dresses, prom dresses, evening gowns, casual wear with Ankara fabrics mixed with satins, cottons, etc. The crowd resonated with male and female models wearing Ankara vests to compliment business suits.
“I was impressed to see a large number of enthusiastic guests at the fashion show which was well-attended by the community. Doing a fashion show in Arizona was also an opportunity to expand my network into Arizona. I use a combination of fabrics from different countries across the world however Ankara and tribal prints are the core fabrics in my latest collection. Today Africa is the new source of global inspiration for beauty and fashion. I intend to continue raising awareness of African designs via fashion events and productions.” states Philetta Phillips of FashPhiletta Designs.

Phillips creates custom formal gowns and casual attire inspired by her African heritage. Her company, FashPhiletta Designs, has design operations in the USA, Liberia, Ghana, and Nigeria. Diaspora Showcase Africa – produced by Kwevi Quaye – featured African fashion, music, dance, food and entertainment in Tucson, Arizona in September 2017. Guests were treated to a four-course dinner, live-music performances, include Afro-Pop, Jazz, Classical. The Diaspora Showcase has received critical acclaims and awards for its portrayal of Africa, in a unique entertaining format, by integrating the Sound and Style of Fashion, Music, Dance and Food from the five regions of Africa into a single show.
